Council Rock South Band Program encompasses the spirit of music and camaraderie. Founded in 2002, the Council Rock South Bands have a history of excellence, dedication and pride. Performing regularly at events, parades, competitions, and more, Council Rock South Bands have travelled far and wide to spread their talent and ceremonial sounds. Led by Band Director, John Burns and his amazing staff and volunteers.

Meet Our Director
John Burns is in his 15th year as the Director of Bands at Council Rock High School South in Holland, PA. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Shenandoah University and earned a Level II graduate certification from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Under his direction, the band program has amassed widespread regional and national acclaim, including six USBands State Championships, two USBands National A Class Championships, and an Open Class National Championship. South's Concert Bands have also secured 14 consecutive Superior ratings at Music in the Parks festivals. Additionally, Mr. Burns established the school's award-winning Winter Guard in 2013, guiding them to three MAIN championships and a 2025 WGI East Power Regional title, and oversees an Indoor Drumline that boasts a Cavalcade Championship, two TIA Chapter Championships, and a MAPS Bronze Medal.
